Gold Coast 50
The Gold Coast 50, formerly known as the Kurrawah to Duranbah, was held on Sunday 13th December. The main race starts at 0500 to try to manage the heat stress on the runners for such a long event. This year it rained, making it much more plesant for the runners. However, this created other problems even for those who remained behind at the Race HQ.

Striderm has been supporting this great event for a number of years. This year the deCastella Run was held on 30th August 2015. Unfortunatley for us, this clashed with the Southern Highlands Challenge, which we attended.
Southern Highlands Challenge
The Southern Highlands Challenge trail running festival offers a scenic and challenging route through the forests and farmland of the Southern Highlands of NSW. It offers a choice of short, medium, long and ultra distances for runners of all abilities. This year it was held on Sunday 30th August in Wingllo State Forest in the NSW Southern Highlands. There was significant rainfall in the district in the week leading up to the event. There was some expectation that the trails might be a little soft underfoot. However, this was not the case with the trails and the Race HQ beiing mostly firm under foot.
Nerang State Forest Run

Striderm was pleased to continue its involvement with the event. Here are some photos, including one with the winner of a Striderm pack in the random draw.

The Convicts & Wenches Marathon is a low-key event held on Australia Day at Victoria Point, Redland City in South East Queensland. It is the nearest marathon to Striderm’s home base. For the first time in a couple of years, the weather was reasonably comfortable for a summer marathon.
The event is organised by Bruce Hargreaves, who is also the Australian ambassador for the famous Comrades event in South Africa. Bruce also maintains the website My Marathon Club, which provides a calendar of local and overseas marathons. It’s always good to catch up with Bruce for a chat at this event.
